2010-2011 Training Schedule

The 2010-2011 Training Schedule has been published and is available by Clicking Here.  This schedule includes both First Responder and EMT-Bridge programs offered in the counties of Bedford; Blair; Cambria; Fulton; Huntingdon; and Somerset. 

Draft Act 37 Rules and Regulations-Draft 3

The third draft of the Act 37 Rules and Regulations of the new law is now available by clicking here.  The Bureau of EMS is requesting review and comments on this draft.  

Thisis the third in a series of drafts that have been released for review and comment.  The changes from previous drafts are highlighted in the document.

There will be additional revisions as the rules and regulations are discussed at townhall meetings across Pennsylvania.  Additional meetings are being scheduled and information will be distributed as it becomes available. 

EMS agencies and providers are encouraged to review the draft regulations and participate in discussions at these townhall meetings.  Now is the time to provide constructive input in the design of the rules and regulations to Act 37.

If you are unable to participate in a townhall meeting, comments regarding the draft EMS rules and regulations can be forwarded to our office for inclusion into the document's overall comments.

Lifepak 15 Recall

The FDA has announced a class one recall of Medtronic Lifepak 15 cardiac monitor/defibrillators.

If your service has a Lifepak 15 subject to this recall, please work with your vendor to correct the issues identified in the recall notice.

Patient Refusals

Southern Alleghenies EMS Council will no longer be able to provide two-part copies of the Patient Refusal Checklist contained in the Pennsylvania BLS Protocols.  Services that would like to obtain a copy of the form for use by their service can download it here.

Act 37 Effective Dates Chart

The attached chart indicates the anticipated dates that specific sections of Act 37 will take effect.  The dates are subject to change and are dependent upon publication of regulations under the new law.  Click Here to view the chart.  Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Act 37

The Governor has signed Act 37 of 2009 that is now the new EMS Systems Act.  The provisions of this act will be implemented over a period of time.  Certain portions become effective 180 days after being signed, while others become effective 180 days after the regulations (still to be developed) are published.  Information on the bill can be found here.
