The Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) has published revisions to the Statewide ALS, BLS and AEMT protocols. These new protocols will be effective on September 1, 2017. Agencies may implement the protocol revisions prior to September 1, 2017 once their personnel appropriately educated on the changes and updates. It is the responsibility of the agency medical director to verify that providers are appropriately educated on the revisions and updates. EMS Information Bulletin 2017-09 explains the education that is required related to the updated protocols and the responsibilities of the EMS agency medical director.
The online training module for the protocol revisions is currently available on the PA TRAIN system.
