Effective November 28, 2017, the Pa Department of Human Services (DHS) began using a new vendor to process Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background clearances, as they relate to the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL). The requirements for the clearances have not changed, only the vendor used to process the FBI background has changed.
There has been concern over the need for a “service code” to process a request for the FBI background. These clearance checks are through the CPSL and DHS, not the Department of Health (DOH). Therefore, DOH does not have any assigned service codes. The service codes are provided by the DHS. Please visit the DHS website for information regarding Service Codes, DHS Clearance Website.
