Southern Alleghenies EMS Tuition Reimbursement
SAEMS provides regional tuition reimbursement support for eligible EMR, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic students aligned with an agency. Funding is limited and subject to posted eligibility criteria.
Who Qualifies for EMS Tuition Reimbursement?
The Southern Alleghenies EMS Council Board of Directors has approved the use of a portion of the PA State Rural Training Funds to cover tuition costs for students who have completed an initial EMS education program at the EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic level in Pennsylvania. If an agency - paid tuition for one of these programs, you may be eligible for reimbursement, provided you meet all of the conditions listed below.
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be aligned with an agency in the Southern Alleghenies EMS Council.
- Complete an approved EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic program between July 1, 2023, and the present.
- Attempt the National Registry (NREMT) psychomotor and cognitive exams.
- Reside in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon, or Somerset County.
- Submit required documentation.
- If you received tuition assistance for this class from other sources that covered the total amount of your tuition, you are not eligible for tuition reimbursement.

EMS Reimbursement Amounts by Certification Level
SAEMS reimburses up to the following maximums (based on program level and available funds):
- $500 – EMR
- $800 – EMT
- $1,000 – AEMT
- $3,500 – Paramedic
Proof of paid tuition is required and must be attached to the application.

- Course details (location and start date)
- Confirmation of exam attempts, when required
- Proof of paid tuition
- Completed application fields and digital signature
Agencies requesting reimbursement for multiple students may list individuals within the form or upload a spreadsheet.
SAEMS reviews complete applications based on eligibility criteria and available regional funding.
